The Board of Directors has significant experience in
intellectual property, patent protection and patent law, state government,
banking and finance:
has 30 years of business experience. He has worked closely with
numerous start-up companies at various levels including planning, raising
capital, strategic alliances, sales, marketing, executive training, finance,
operations and recruiting key personnel.
Mr. Dickson was the CEO for Tectonics Research Group Inc. the company
that started the initial development of QuakeGuard, until it merged into
Seismic Warning Systems, Inc. Mr. Dickson was also the founder and CEO of
Cal Wave Inc. the marketing and distribution company for QuakeGuard in
Mr. Dickson is the Founder and Chairman of Viscus Therapeutics Inc. a
Biotechnology start up company involved in the development of vaccines.
Mr. Dickson is the CEO and co-founder of Hazards Warning & Analysis Inc,
a structural engineering and structural Integrity company.
Mr. Dickson was co-founder and President of Dickson's Cleartone, Inc. This
company owns patented products that are distributed internationally
through a license and manufacturing agreement with Fishman Transducers,
Inc. selling to major musical instrument companies including Gibson,
Fender, Martin and Guild. Mr. Dickson studied international business management,
marketing and economics at San Jose State University, San Diego State
University and the University of Nevada at Las Vegas.
Matt Fong brings an entrepreneurial blend of fiscal, political and global
expertise to the Strategic Advisory Group he founded in 1999. He provides
counsel to CEO’s and senior executives on strategy, business development and
asset management. He advises such organizations as Lennar, a Fortune 500
company and YCS, an Asian family investment group with real estate and
corporate interests worldwide. Matt is also a principal in Belstar Group, an
asset management firm. Serving on private and non-profit boards, Matt is an
independent director on the Trust Company of the West’s (TCW) complex of mutual
funds. He also serves as Vice Chairman of the Board for Seismic Warning Systems
(earthquake detection devices), director of American Grid (clean technology
energy saving devices), and an advisory board member to Oceanwood Capital
Management and Nogales Investors LLC. Matt serves as a Regent of Pepperdine
University and Trustee of Southwestern University School of Law. For eight years,
Matt guided the fiscal affairs for California, the sixth largest economy in the
world. As Vice Chairman of the State Board of Equalization (California’s tax
agency) and (elected with over 4 million votes) State Treasurer (the state’s
Chief Financial Officer), Matt provided strong fiscal stewardship. He also served
as a trustee of CalPers and CalStrs Pension Funds, with over $250 billion in assets.
In this capacity, he led the first United States public institutional investor
(CalPers) to invest into a China private equity fund in the 1990’s. At the federal
level, Matt was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve for three years as
Chairman of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) Advisory Committee.
Matt provided fiscal oversight and corporate governance to its’ $36 billion investment
portfolio. Politically, he was the 1998 Republican Nominee for US Senate from California.
He also served as President George W. Bush’s California Campaign Co-Chairman and
National Asian Pacific American Bush 2000 Campaign Chairman. In 2006 he was State
Co-Chairman for California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s re-election campaign.
Graduating from the USAF Academy in 1975 with a B.S. degree, Matt retired from the USAF
Reserves from his assignment to the Pentagon as Sr. Finance and Budget Adviser for
HQ USAF as a Lt. Colonel with twenty-nine years of service. He earned a Masters of
Business Administration degree from Pepperdine University and a Juris Doctorate from
Southwestern University. He holds Series 7 and 63 securities licenses and is licensed
to practice law in the State of California and Washington D.C. Matt is of counsel to
Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton, an international law firm where he started his
business and transactional law in 1985. He is also an FAA rated pilot with a commercial
license and instrument ratings (SEL & glider).
Harold Ross brings over 25 years of experience in entrepreneurial
management positions, corporate and real estate finance and business consultation.
Presently he is a principal in HE Ross & Associates, which provides
advisory services in the areas of corporate and real estate financing and
venture capital investments. Mr. Ross is an officer of Mail Registry,
Inc., a development stage company utilizing patented email forwarding technology.
He was the founding Executive Director of the NYC Industrial Development
Agency. He was also a founder of the Cogeneration Development Corporation
for the development of energy efficient projects utilizing cogeneration
and district heating technology. Mr. Ross holds a BBA from the City College
of New York and a J.D. from Fordham Law School.
Gerry Shaltz brings over forty years of sales and marketing
experience to SWS. A seasoned entrepreneur, he has been a major contributor
to the success of multiple start-up companies including Arista Corporation,
Centex Telemanagement, CVI Beta Frames, Nitinol Development Corporation
(NDC), and HXL Technologies/Pixl Golf. The co-founder of Calwave,
Mr. Shaltz has served as a director and an effective leader in a variety
of senior management positions. Prior to Calwave, he was the founder
and CEO of GSA Dealer Services, a fifteen-year-old after-markets company
serving the retail auto industry. Mr. Shaltz is a graduate of Los Angeles
Cash Hamrick is an intellectual property partner and
former managing partner of the San Jose office of Oppenheimer, Wolff &
Donnelly. His areas of expertise are preparation and prosecution of complex
U.S. and International patent applications, patent and trademark litigation
support, patent validity and infringement analysis, and re-examination
challenge of issued patents. Previously, Mr. Cash was
a partner and manager of the Intellectual Property Group of Bronson, Bronson
& McKinnon. He started his career in patent law as an Examiner
in the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office in Washington D.C. and in patent
law at General Motors and Varian Associates. In practicing in Silicon Valley
during the last 33 years, he has been responsible for the preparation and
prosecution of more than 2,000 U.S. and foreign patents for various clients.
David Auerbach is the President of Tectonics Research
Group Inc. (TRGI) and was instrumental in bringing about the TRGI/Calwave
merger. Prior to joining TRGI, Mr. Auerbach was a principal of the BDS
Laser Institute, a company involved in the use of low-energy lasers to
treat a number of medical conditions. Auerbach received Bachelor of Science
(Physics and Chemistry) and DDS degrees (Cum Laude/University Scholarship)
from McGill University as well as a Master of Science degree from Boston
University. Auerbach has been a practicing endodontist since 1973 and a
faculty member at McGill University. He has served both as an advisor and
evaluator in the development of new endodontic technology.
